Yin Yoga is a grounded, deep, meditative practice where we hold postures for 3-5 minutes to address the Yin aspects of the body. We approach natural edges of sensation in the body not forcing or striving past them. In doing so we release stress and tension in the body, especially areas around the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. In finding stillness we may encounter raw and tender emotions. We will use visualization techniques to guide us in the experience of this. We will have the support of blankets, blocks, and bolsters to aid us in being still and observing what comes up. Music, poetry, and candle light will guide us to find acceptance and rest. Simply come nourish the Yin parts of your being, give yourself some love, and just be.
