Indigo Shibori Dye Workshop
hosted by Jessie Kritt
Join Jessie in our backyard to learn the fun and easy art of shibori! In this 3 hour workshop, you will learn different shibori techniques and dye anything your heart desires from clothing, to fabric, to home decor.
Shibori is a Japanese dyeing technique that involves folding, twisting, or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing it in a natural indigo bath. The string or rubber bands used to bind the fabric will resist the dye resulting in areas of white to contrast the blue dye. There are infinite patterns you can create, so come get creative and see what you can do with some cloth, dye, and string!
Please bring anything you'd like to dye, it should be cotton, white, and small or medium sized such as t-shirts, leggings, white denim, tote bags, towels, pillow cases, napkins, or even items with stains so you can dye over the stains.
You will also learn how to dye with other fruits, vegetables, and plant materials so you can try it on your own at home or with friends.
