Chinese New Year qigong
Hosted by dr. Kat Brady, LAc.
Join certified Qigong teacher Kat Brady for this special in-person class as we bring in the year of the Yin Wood Snake. In this class we will connect to the energies of the coming year as we wake up the Yang Qi, which has been dormant throughout the winter. This practice will include movement, visualization, mantra, and lecture on the energetics of the year.
In the Daoist calendar, 2025 is considered a Yi Si year. Yi is the energy in the Heavens and relates to Yin Wood and the middle of spring where the rain nourishes young maturing plants. Si is the Earthly energy, which is related to the animal Snake, to the element Fire, and to the beginning of summer when the buds of flowers are just beginning to bloom. Together this is the energy of being almost fully mature but still needing patients and nourishment so that we can bloom as our full vibrant selves in the years ahead.
Thi hour of Qigong will draw upon the rich lineage of Liu family as taught by the Ling Gui International Healing Qigong School. This in-person class will incorporate both standing and seated practices.
No experience required. Each class will be crafted to be accessible to beginners and long-time Qigong students alike.
No special clothing required but they should be easy to move in. You are welcome to bring a yoga mat or blanket, or borrow a mat to use from the space.
