  • Sacred Waters Sanctuary 3704 Southeast 65th Avenue Portland, OR, 97206 United States (map)

hosted by dr. kat brady, lac.

Join Dr. Kat Brady, LAc. for this 3-day workshop for Reiki practitioners, rooted in Daoist wisdom and Qigong practice, that will explore the basics of key concepts of Chinese medicine with the intention of deepening your Reiki practice.

Event Dates:

Friday, 5/31, 7p-9p

Saturday, 6/1, 2p-5p

Sunday, 6/2, 11a-2p

Dr. Kat Brady, LAc. is a licensed acupuncturist and Reiki Master who began their interest in Chinese medicine with a simple question: what is Ki or Qi? This question expanded into many more:

How does Qi flow through our bodies?

How does the concept of Qi manifest as health or disease in our bodies, minds, and spirits?

Where does our Qi end and Reiki (Heavenly Qi) begin?

All of these questions eventually brought Kat to their doctoral studies in Chinese medicine and acupuncture where they were given these answers and introduced to so much more. They believe deeply that the wisdom of Chinese medicine and Daoist philosophy can not only deepen the practice of Reiki but also illuminate some of the key influences on Mikao Usui in his development of Usui Reiki.

Topics in this multi-day workshop will include the polarity of Yin and Yang, the functions and movements of Qi and other vital substances in our body, the wisdom of the 5-elemental phases, the 12-primary organs, 12-primary and 8-extraordinary channels, the causes of disease in Chinese medicine, and the art of diagnosis and developing treatment strategies. Kat will also share techniques they have learned from the practice of Qigong that can be employed in Reiki treatments to be very intentional with how we interact with someone's Qi.

This workshop will blend dynamic lectures with Qigong practices chosen to help students connect to the Qi in their bodies and in the Universe around as well as to deepen their understanding of the topics covered. On the final day there will be an extended practice session that will give students the chance to practice pattern diagnosis, forming treatment principles based on the determined pattern, and to use Reiki and Qigong techniques to influence how Qi moves in the channels being treated.

While this workshop will only cover the surface of this deep healing lineage, each student will walk away with a better understanding of how these concepts relate to their own health as well as the health of their clients.

Students must be attuned in at least Reiki level 1 to attend this workshop. No experience with Qigong or Chinese medicine is necessary.

This workshop will not explore topics of acupuncture, Chinese herbalism, or other modalities related to Chinese medicine. Please consider attending an accredited Chinese medical professional program if you are interested in learning about acupuncture and related practices.

Dr. Kat Brady, LAc. (They/Them) is a licensed acupuncturist having graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) in 2023 with a dual masters and doctoral degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Kat thrives at treating the mind, body, and spirit of each patient they see simultaneously. They believe strongly that a compassion driven approach to clinical care is sometimes the most important medicine that a patient needs to feel seen and safe in addressing their health concerns. Kat has studied and practiced Qigong for over a decade and is a certified teacher from the Ling Gui International Healing Qigong school under the instruction of Master Liu He. They bring their Qigong practice to life by blending in Chinese medical and Daoist wisdom to connect each student to their place as the pivot between heaven and earth. Kat is an avid student of the Yi Jing (I Ching) and Daoism whose philosophies permeate everything they do. In 2018, Kat became a certified Reiki master teacher through the Glowing Heart Reiki school and has on occasion attuned others to Reiki. Kat is excited to be offering this workshop that has been a dream of theirs since they were first attuned in Reiki in 2016.
