The World in Motion: Exploring the Daoist Five Elements through Qigong

Hosted by dr. Kat Brady, LAc.

The Daoist 5 Elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water describe energetic movements of the macrocosm and microcosm and how they interact to produce the myriad things that exist. Through lecture and Qigong we will explore how these elements of nature can be felt both within our bodies, minds, and spirits as well as observed in the world around us.

Class will begin with a half-hour lecture with tea on the relationships of Yin & Yang and how the 5 Elements expand upon these concepts and describe the transitions as Yin transforms into Yang and Yang into Yin. We will then draw upon the rich Qigong lineage of the Ling Gui International Qigong Healing School in exploring how these concepts can be felt in the body. Class will include seated and standing aspects including movement, breathword, self-massage, and visualization.

No experience required. Each class will be crafted to be accessible to beginners and long-time Qigong students alike. No special clothing required but they should be easy to move in. Yoga mats and bolsters will be provided.
